The Man of Style team had the pleasure of heading up to our second favourite Australian city for the launch of the revolutionary HP Spectre Folio. After being beset by a delayed flight, we finally made it to the beautiful Beta Bar in Sydney just in the nick of time. Upon arrival, the bar was brimming with flowers and installations adorned with the latest releases from HP—a truly stunning sight to see. After sneaking into our seats, we managed to make it just in time for the full rundown from HP’s Global Head of Design Stacy Wolff. Here are some of our key takeaways from the amazing global launch.
A new standard in the Luxury PC market, the HP Spectre Folio boasts a full grain leather housing, providing a timeless aesthetic appeal, with accented stitching and precision-cut edging. It’s sophisticated, it’s luxurious, and it’s just made the humble PC into one fashionable piece of tech. Available in Cognac Brown or Bordeaux Burgundy, the leather allows the laptop to seamlessly transition between a range of varying positions in a much less mechanical manner than its regular PC counterparts. The flexibility of the device is perfect for today’s generation of active and on the go workers. From the traditional laptop position, through to the tent and tablet positions, this laptop is literally made to move.
To keep things streamlined, The Spectre Folio utilises one of the smallest motherboards in the industry, the 8th Gen Intel® CoreTM i5 and i7 (Y-series) processors. In addition to this mighty motherboard, they have incorporated a fanless thermal design thanks to the leather housing. One of our favourite elements of the laptop would have to be the partnership with premium audio and lifestyle brand, Bang & Olufsen. The front-facing quad speakers pack a phenomenal punch, especially considering the thin profile of the laptop. Some other key features include 16GB of memory, up to 2TB of SSD storage and either a 300 or 400-nits FHD screen (A 4K display will be available later this year).
Another exciting addition to the Spectre Folio is the world’s first gigabit-class LTE Intel® based laptop. What does that mean in English? You’re always connected, and it’s more secure than traditional public Wi- Fi® hot spots. The device also supports dual eSIM7, with an optional nano-SIM slot under the display and an optional embedded digital eSIM to easily and quickly connect to their cellular networks for a seamless Internet and data experience.
Like what you see? Well the HP Spectre Folio will be available at Harvey Norman, JB Hi-Fi and on the HP website for $2,999 as of November 1st.
