There’s not much that can top a trip down to Albert Park, even on the best of days. But in the month of March, there’s literally no place you would rather be, thanks to the start of the Formula 1 Grand Prix Season.
The sights, the sounds, the electricity; the whole place us buzzing, filled with people who have Formula 1 Fever. Now, for some of us adrenaline junkies, all this high octane energy is what we live for. While on the other hand, there are some of us who would be more than happy to sit back and relax and watch this world-class race with a glass of world-class wine.
If you are one of the latter, then you were in luck. One of the Australian heavy-weights of wine, St Hugo, landed pole position as the official wine supplier of this year’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix – and boy did they deliver the goods!
This year, the luxurious Formula 1 Paddock Club played host to a bespoke wine lounge–compliments of St Hugo, of course. Naturally, when we heard the announcement, it sparked joy at Man of Style HQ, as one of the best sporting events just got a whole lot better.
St Hugo sent us trackside to see what all the fuss was about, and without obligations, we raced down for what was a fantastic day of world-class wine and world-class entertainment. For a first time partnership, St Hugo did not disappoint. Not only were those in attendance able to watch some of the world’s most exceptional drivers battle it out on the track, but we were also able to sample the most recent release of the 2016 St Hugo Cabernet Sauvignon, which isn’t due to be released until later this year.
For any wine buffs out there, I’m sure you would agree that this is an equally as exceptional experience as the Formula 1 itself!
Upon arrival to the Formula 1 Paddock Club, the St Hugo team greeted us with a very warm welcome – that welcome consisted of a tasting platter featuring the latest and greatest from their portfolio: the downright delicious 2016 Grenache Shiraz Mataro, 2016 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, 2016 Shiraz, ‘The Last Letter’ Cabernet Sauvignon and ‘The Unspoken Promise’ Cabernet Sauvignon.. talk about treating oneself!
After a quick bite to eat, we made our way trackside with newly appointed chief winemaker Peter Munro to get amongst some of the Formula 1 action. Not a bad way to spend one’s Friday afternoon.
Thank you once again to St Hugo for the fantastic opportunity, the entire experience was wonderful. It turns out fine wine and Formula 1 is the perfect pairing! Whilst we are speaking about perfect pairings, Rockpool Melbourne will be partnering up with St Hugo to showcase the pinnacle of their wine portfolio, the Vetus Purum, this weekend. The luxury dish pairing was inspired by the Formula 1 partnership and is matched to Rockpool’s Cape Grim 36 Month Dry Aged Rib Eye on the Bone. The pairing is available this weekend at Rockpool Melbourne only. So make sure you book a table to avoid missing out on this amazing experience!
